Cannot Initilize Graphics (Windows® 95/98)

When attempting to start Carmen Sandiego Word Detective™ on a computer with Windows® 95/98 an error message appears "Cannot Initialize Graphics." This issue occurs when incorrect color settings are selected in the Display Settings. View the remainder of this technical note for additional information.
Complete the procedure that follows to resolve this issue.
- Close all open windows and programs and return to the desktop.
- Click Start, select Settings then click Control Panel. The Control Panel window will appear.
- Double-click the Display icon. A Display Properties window will appear.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Under the Colors or Color Pallette heading, change the setting to 256 colors.
- Click Apply then click OK. If prompted to restart the computer, click Yes to restart.
- Launch and use Carmen Sandiego Word Detective™.
