Destination Reading®: Course IV Resources

Lesson Plans
Lesson Plans are designed to help teach a Unit in the classroom. Each lesson plan includes preteach information, suggested classroom activities, a book list of suggested further reading, as well as a detailed breakdown of each lesson.


Reading Logs
Reading Logs contain a copy of a reading passage from a unit. In most cases there is one reading passage per unit, but in some cases there are two. These logs may be printed out, along with questions for students to answer as they read through the passage. Questions are designed to get students to reflect on their reading and practice the vocabulary and comprehension skills and strategies for the unit.


Student Logbooks
There are three Student Logbooks for each unit, one each to accompany the main instructional sequence for a unit's vocabulary strategy, comprehension skill, and comprehension strategy. Each logbook consists of 10-15 questions that students should answer while they are studying an instructional sequence. Questions are designed to make students pause and reflect on their learning as they work through the content.


Your Turn® Activities
There are three Your Turn® activities for each unit, one each to accompany the main instructinal sequence for a unit's vocabulary strategy, comprehension skill, and comprehension strategy. Each activity consists of 10-15 questions that students should answer after they have completed an instructional sequence. Questions are designed to get students to review what they learned and to practice their new skills and strategies.


Reward Songs
Reward songs from the course reinforce key skills and strategies in the program, such as prediction, context clues, note taking, and so on. Click to view the list of reward songs for Destination Reading® Course III skills and stragegies.
