In many instances, insufficient hard drive space can cause installation and operating issues. Verifying that sufficient hard drive space is available to install and run a specific program will help to identify the source of an issue. Complete the following steps.
- Close programs and all windows and return to the desktop.
- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- Right-click the letter representing the drive where the program is installed or is to be installed.
- Select Properties.
- Check the Free Space amount shown in the data presented.
- Verify that the available free space satisfies the minimum system requirements of the program.
NOTE: Microsoft® suggests maintaining at least 200 MB's of free space on any hard drive to allow for temporary and swap files while operating the system and programs within that system.
