Checking Hard Drive Space
In many instances, insufficient hard drive space can cause installation and operating issues. Verifying that sufficient hard drive space is available to install and run a specific program will help to identify the source of an issue. Complete the following steps.

  1. Close programs and all windows and return to the desktop.
  2. Double-click the My Computer icon.
  3. Right-click the letter representing the drive where the program is installed or is to be installed.
  4. Select Properties.
  5. Check the Free Space amount shown in the data presented.
  6. Verify that the available free space satisfies the minimum system requirements of the program.
NOTE: Microsoft® suggests maintaining at least 200 MB's of free space on any hard drive to allow for temporary and swap files while operating the system and programs within that system.
